Current season

GreenEDGE Cycling is a professional road race cycling team. Launched in January 2011, it will compete on the UCI World Tour in 2012. The team is under the management of Andrew Ryan and Shayne Bannan with Neil Stephens and Matt White[1] as Sporting Directors.[2] Equipment sponsorships have been announced with SCOTT Sports[3] and Santini Maglificio Sportivo.[4] The team is understood to have financial backing from Australian businessman Gerry Ryan[5] who owns Jayco Australia.[6]

The team is aiming to fill three-quarters of its roster with Australian riders and has an arrangement with the Team Jayco-AIS to act as its non-exclusive feeder team.[7] The team also plans to compete in women's and track cycling.[8]

History

The team was launched on 17 January 2011 in Adelaide. It has signed a full complement of 30 riders. On 6 December 2011, the team was admitted by the UCI to the 2012 and 2013 World Tour seasons.[9][10]

While GreenEDGE is still seeking major sponsorships, it has attracted SCOTT Sports[3] as a bicycle supplier and Santini Maglificio Sportivo.[4] as suppliers of apparel.

2012 season

In January 2012, GreenEDGE made its debut in the Bay Classic Series in Victoria, Australia. Allan Davis won the men's classification racing for GreenEDGE's second team in the race, Mitchelton Wines/Lowe Farms, while Melissa Hoskins won the women's event.[11]
